The Department of Sociology at Millat College, a prestigious constituent unit of Lalit Narayan Mithila University, Darbhanga, Bihar, was established in 1959. Departmental Rules
- A minimum of 75% attendance in classes is mandatory for students to be eligible to appear for final examinations, as per university regulations.
- Students must return all borrowed books and materials from the Departmental Library before collecting their admit cards for the final exams.
- Students are expected to actively participate in seminars, workshops, field visits, and community outreach programs organized by the department to enhance their learning and practical understanding of social issues.
- Students must appear for Class Tests, Pre-Tests, and Test Examinations as these are mandatory components of academic evaluation.
- In case of absence for more than seven consecutive days, students must notify the Head of Department (HoD) in writing, along with a valid reason (e.g., illness or family emergency).
- Students must respect and properly use departmental resources, including books, computers, and study materials. Any damage should be reported immediately.
- Students are expected to maintain academic integrity by avoiding plagiarism, cheating, or any form of dishonesty in their assignments, projects, and exams.
- Students must keep the department and campus clean by disposing of waste in the designated dustbins and ensuring a neat and organized environment.
- Students must switch off lights, fans, and other electrical equipment when leaving the classrooms and departmental rooms to conserve energy.
- Students must maintain a respectful and professional demeanor towards faculty, staff, and peers. Any form of ragging, harassment, or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.
- Students are expected to submit assignments, projects, and research papers on time. Late submissions may result in a penalty, unless prior approval is obtained from the faculty.
- Mobile phones must be kept on silent or switched off during classes and departmental activities to avoid disturbances.
